Be The Go-To Goal Scorer!
Learn to become a sniper by picking corners with precision and power with proper shooting mechanics and game situation repetition. We provide both private and semi-private lessons with a maximum of 3 players per session to ensure personalized attention and quick improvement.
Head Instructor, Coach Johnny, a former NCAA Div III National Champion (2009), with over 20 years of teaching experience, is committed to helping every player reach their full potential as a goal-scoring threat on the ice. By correcting your bad habits, learning foundational shooting skill-sets, & practicing game-situation deception & quick-release, we’ll transform you into the go-to goal scorer you were meant to be.
Our on-ice lessons require you wear full equipment so you can better transfer your practice shots into real game winning goals.
Why Players Have Trouble Learning To Shoot
1. They think…muscle the puck
Instead, we need to be relaxed to whip our arms and wrists. We need a tight grip so our hands are one with the stick at release, but loose wrists to whip aka snap them forward (allow the wrists to whip last).
2. Weak push & pull
We find 1. The hands are too far from the body when shooting and 2. weak rotation of the torso/shoulders. When the hands are closer to our body and we twist into the shot, our bottom hand push and top hand pull can generate much more fluidity & power (although the top hand whips away from our body, it should start balanced in tight to our body).
3. They think…push bottom hand down
Don’t waist energy and make accuracy difficult by pushing the bottom hand down to flex the stick. Instead, think paint brush. The bristles will naturally flex as you sweep forward.
4. They think… power comes from a side to side motion (linear motion)
Instead think torque. Power comes from rotation (circular motion). Use your hips torque to give your shoulders, arms, and wrists extra power to whip/blast through the shot.
